10 Best Openings

In this new video series, IM Valeri Lilov shares the results of his research and experience to reveal what he believes are the most successful openings for white and for black.

The first question IM Lilov answers is: "What makes an opening successful?".

Of course, the amount of chess theory, the winning percentage, the number of games played with it, and who usually plays it are important factors to determine the success of an opening.  But the real thing that makes an opening successful for a player is the knowledge of the right bits; the major ideas, in short, the spirit of the opening. Only with such knowledge at hand, can you earn the key to the castle.

Sit back and enjoy while Valeri provides you with an overview of what he considers to be the best openings in chess and why you should learn and play them. In essence, a repertoire for both white and black of the most successful openings in chess.

The series is thought for players from beyond beginner to expert level.

Hi, I have`nt fully utilised the product, but from what I`ve seen so far, I can say that i am certainly more pleased with this purchase than the naodinsky method video I purchased a few months ago. (Posted on May 3, 2018)

Charming but obtuse Review by AustinTaos

Videos are a good length, allowing examinations of several lines. However there is his tendency to be happy with a line or position without being explicit about why. This series is more for a middle level or higher player who can see the unexamined weaknesses of a position and has a good knowledge of opening ideas already. Think of it as casual conversation over coffee with a good friend showing you some fun ideas. (Posted on May 3, 2018)

Loads of good opening ideas, but seems a little disorganized Review by TheDoctorJ

Loads of good opening ideas, but seems a little disorganized. I had hoped that it would provide a more robust basis for teaching openings to my students. (Posted on May 1, 2018)

Clear presentation Review by floorwax

I'm glad I bought this set. IM Lilov gives a clear presentation of the selected openings and summarizes the key "beats" to hit for each one (using a screenplay-writing metaphor). His discussions are well-organized and are delivered at a good pace. I will certainly look for more of his videos based on my positive experience with this set. (Posted on April 30, 2018)

Easy to learn repertoire Review by terminator

IM Lilov does a great job explaining the strategy behind the openings with the advantage of not having to memorize lots of opening theory. Great choice of repertoire for the club player. Looking forward to trying out these lines in my next tournament! (Posted on April 27, 2018)
