great series by IM Watson if you play the KID Review by claudioa

I strongly recommend this series of videos as a starter if you play the KID with black, John Watson presents the KID not by enumerating variations , but on the other hand by focusing more on the pawn structures and strategic and tactical ideas. To complement it , I recommend to follow up with Alex Yermolinksy series on the Averbach KID (part of his building an opening repertoire series) and also the 4 video series titled "KID by method" also by Alex Yermolinsky. Solid grounding in the KID Review by Tournelles
Rating
This series gives a very good strategic overview of the King's Indian. Watson emphasizes the ideas and themes behind the different pawn structures - his speciality - so you are not plowing through thickets of variations. I would say the target audience is anyone up to Expert, or for stronger players looking to review the material. The examples are well-chosen and presented in Watson's amiable style. The Venerable John Watson IM Review by Shiryaev

I have not had time to watch this chess video on the King's Indian yet. It is after all eight and a half hours, but it covers virtually everything. But, I am sure that IM John Watson can help me with the King's Indian defense. (Posted on January 31, 2018)

Excellent analysis of opening strucutres Review by lorfag

The video course analyszes deeply the opening positions of King's Indian Defense with a paticular attention to pawn structures. The teching style is plain and the usage of real games makes the explanations more interesting that a simple theory handbook. Suggested for all the players that want to imporve their opening skills. Fair at Best Review by RedSkull

While John Watson may know his Chess, his hurried delivery and slurred speech on presentation is not so good. he jumps all over the place. Just fair for a grade. (Posted on November 19, 2017)

Excellent Opening & Middle Game Lectures on the KID Review by ChessOwl

John Watson's videos are clear, to the point, and full of great analysis, and illustrative material. His opening presentations lead to excellent analysis and valuable instruction on the middle game. Very well-done lectures. Recommended. (Posted on November 18, 2017)
