Old fashioned, excellent chess coach Review by dsdeckard

"Openings are a necessary evil." This is what Donny explained to me in our most recent lesson and I couldn't agree more. I have drilled openings over and over and blamed bad openings for my losses etc. etc. but Donny is actually helping me to see that "winning the won game" is the key and that endgames are what really teach you chess. Strongly recommend Donny as your next chess coach. (Posted on October 29, 2020)

Hands down the best investment I’ve ever made in my chess career. Through a highly structured process, Gray naturally builds your ability to actually understand how chess works. (Posted on May 31, 2020)

Off to a great start Review by bloomchesskid

Just began lessons with my 7 year old son. Donny is very patient and communicates clearly. Expectations are made clear up front. I appreciate that he doesn't 'give' the answer if my son doesn't immediately respond, but makes my son think through the exercise and arrive at the answer himself. (Posted on December 9, 2019)

This guy works me hard Review by manejador

I had never paid much attention to the endgame prior to meeting Coach Gray. He emphasizes play in the ending, which can be quite tricky. My USCF rating has improved by 225 points in a year and I think there is more to come. This guy is great, offers a structured course, and he forces you to learn and retain concepts. Best thing I ever did to raise my game. (Posted on August 19, 2017)
