I've been having lessons once a week with FM Stanoje for nearly a year now and would happily recommend him to anyone looking for a teacher, with some minor caveats. Each lesson follows a different topic - one week may be pawn endgames, another week openings for white, the next tactics etc. Every once in a while you play a training game against him at a slow time control. FM Stanoje is clearly an experienced teacher with a wealth of material to go through, and is never at a loss for what to do next. The material itself is challenging but never boring, and he's patient and always explains very clearly why a particular move is wrong if (when!) you make a mistake. A couple of points I would just mention - firstly, I would recommend using Skype as he clearly finds it easier to talk in English than type it. Secondly, he always gets straight to business and focuses on the lesson topics - if you're after a teacher who will chat or take interest in you as a student (such as looking at your games, asking how you've been doing, discussing goals, studying tips etc.) then you might want to look elsewhere. For those just looking for good lessons at a good price, look no further. (Posted on May 27, 2017)

FM Stanoje Jovic is a great instructor with massive experience and I love the fact that he's an expert on the 1.c4 English opening. His knowledge of chess is immense, but more importantly is his willingness to share it. He cares about his students' progress and is very professional.
