  3. Thought Process Errors by NM Dan Heisman
    $49.95

What is "thought process"? It's related to thinking, of course, but there is a difference between thinking and thought process. In a sense, we can break "chess thinking" into three different types, each representing a different class where you may make errors. Let's put process in class one, knowledge in area two, and analytical in class three. The latter usually occurs at a higher level, but it's useful to know how errors during analysis can happen. Comes with one-month ICC membership bonus. Watch Introduction Video FREE.

  8. Ace Up Your Sleeve - 1. d4 repertoire - by IM Michael Rahal
    $99.00
In recent years, openings theory has evolved so much that it’s become increasingly difficult to decide between the tangle of lines, analysis and variations. It's a struggle even for Grandmasters to keep up with it all, not to mention club players! It’s no coincidence that the World Champion Magnus Carlsen often plays secondary lines to achieve a less-known middle game position and sidestep his opponent’s preparation. His incredible quality often allows him to accumulate small advantages in the late middlegame and endgame which he then converts to victory. But how many Carlsen’s are there in the world?

  21. Caro-Kann Defense: Fantasy variation (5 part series)
    $11.96
Ronen's Opening Survey: Caro-Kann Defense: Fantasy variation (5 part series). B12: Caro-Kann: Tartakower (fantasy 3.f3) variation . We all know the classical variation of the Caro-Kann, with 3.Nc3 after 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5, or the modern variation with 3.Nd2, the exchange variation with 3.exd5, and the advance variation with 3.e5, but the fantasy variation with 3.f3 has gained popularity in the last 2-3 years, since when GM Nepomniachtchi used it in some important games that allowed the young Russian talent to win the European Individual Chess Championship in 2010. White fights to keep his central pawns even at the cost of weakening his king, as most of the times his idea will be to caste queen-side. The likes of Ivanchuk, Timofeev, Judit Polgar and Jobava are used to play this variation. The line is mainly considered be aggressive, with play in the center and attack against black's king. GM Ronen Indiana-Jones Har-Zvi, in his 5-video series, takes us through the labyrinth of this interesting variation of the super-famous Caro-Kann Defense. Learn More
  22. Ruy Lopez: Breyer variation (5 part series)
    $14.95
Ronen's Opening Survey: Ruy Lopez: Breyer variation (5 part series). C94, C95: Ruy Lopez: closed, Breyer defense, Ruy Lopez: closed, Breyer, Borisenko variation, Ruy Lopez: closed, Breyer, Borisenko variation 13.b3, Ruy Lopez: closed, Breyer, Borisenko variation 13.Nf1. Hungarian master Gyula Breyer (1893-1921) was one of the leading members of the hypermodern school of chess theory, but is best remembered for the variation of the Ruy Lopez named after him: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.0-0 Be7 6.Re1 b5 7.Bb3 0-0 8.c3 d6 9.h3 Nb8. This line became fashionable in the 1960s, and soon became a big favorite of ex-world champion Boris Spassky and candidate Lajos Portisch during this period. It also received attention from both Kasparov and Karpov during their mighty duels through the 1980s. It then went out of fashion for over 20 years at the elite level, only to now come back in vogue as a new favorite of Norwegian superstar Magnus Carlsen. And in a new series of Ronen's Opening Survey, our resident theoretical guru, GM Ronen Har-Zvi tells us why we could be going back to the future by switching to lines such as the solid and ultrasound Breyer, especially as the Sicilian gets more and more "engined out". 23. Sicilian: Moscow Variation (7 part series)
    $20.93
New Ideas in…: Sicilian: Moscow Variation (7 part series). B51, B52: Sicilian: Canal-Sokolsky (Nimzovich-Rossolimo, Moscow) attack. Playing the White side of the Sicilian is a tricky business these days with all that main-line theory to remember. Indeed, if White is looking to present Black with some real problems while still avoiding mountains of theory, then the Anti-Sicilian Bb5 lines – more specifically, the Rossolimo (1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5) and the Moscow (1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.Bb5+) – might just be the way to go. They are easy to play and often can resemble a Ruy Lopez - not what Black is looking for. Even players such as Anand, Carlsen and Svidler regularly use it - and with excellent results. So in his latest series “New Ideas In….” GM Ronen Har-Zvi examines the Anti-Sicilian Bb5 lines. Learn More

Extremely often double pawns are acceptable, or even strong, depending on the whole structure. One of the big distinction for double pawns is if they are isolated or connected with other pawns. This can make a lot of difference on how to deal with this particular and common structure. In this series IM John Watson looks at double pawns in an extensive and complete way. Learn More

Boris Alterman's Gambit Guide: Italian-Koltanowski gambit ((2 part series) ECO: C50 : Giuoco Piano GM Boris Alterman responds to the many requests from ICC members to delve into very aggressive lines such as the Italian-Koltanowski gambit with 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4. 0-0 Nf6 5. d4!? It looks like a complete throwback to a bygone romantic age of the 19th-century, but, surprisingly, two Super-GMs were slugging it out with it in the very modern setting of the Corus Wijk aan Zee tournament earlier this year, as Sergey Movsesian dusted off this forgotten variation to beat Michael Adams. Could it be a case of Back to the Future with this vicious line being brought back into praxis? Learn More
  39. Damiano gambit (2 part series)
    $5.98
Boris Alterman's Gambit Guide: Damiano gambit (2 part series) ECO: C40: Damiano's defense One of the first chess books to be published in Italy, at the height of the Renaissance, was written by the Portuguese master Pedro Damiano back in 1512. In it, he noted that after 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 the reply 2…Nc6 is good, 2…d6 is not so good, and 2…f6 (the opening named after him) is worst. Many believed for years thereafter that the outright refutation of the Damiano to be 3 Nxe5. However, even today, the Damiano with 2…f6?! retains something of a cult underground following. Even Bobby Fischer played the recommended refutation of it during his legendary simultaneous tour of the US in 1964 and could only draw. The shock value alone of playing the Damiano with 2…f6?! in online play has seen a lot of positive results for Black. And following many requests from ICC members on what to do against it, our resident gambit guru, GM Boris Alterman, overviews it in his latest Gambit Guide series for Chess.FM. Learn More
  40. Shilling Gambit
    $2.99
Boris Alterman's Gambit Guide: Shilling Gambit ECO: C50: King's pawn game Joseph Blackburne (1841-1924) was one of the world’s best players, and he had a 50-year career as one of the strongest-ever British players. But to supplement his meagre tournament prizes “The Black Death” played hundreds of simultaneous displays against amateurs. To cut through the simul fodder he deployed some outrageous openings - the most infamous being Blackburne’s Shilling Gambit (1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bc4 Nd4?!) , the maestro’s standard fee for a game. Even in the 21st century Blackburne’s trick is still racking up the victims . And in a one-off series of GM Boris Alterman’s Gambit Guide, our gambit guru takes a look at the Shilling Gambit - which, while not entirely sound, is a great surprise weapon for (online) blitz play, Learn More

  43. SimulMaster with GM John Fedorowicz
    $9.95
GM John The Fed Fedorowicz had a great Simul this month. He lost only three games, of which one cause of a mouse-slip. John is getting used to the time control; in fact, he found himself ahead of time in most of the games. Beating our GM is becoming a true challenge for ICC members, even those who are used to play simuls and are strong players in general. The three members who mastered the Master are chess24, xionoula and Stone-Castle. Kudos to them! Learn More
  44. Banter Blitz with GM Ronen Har-Zvi
    $9.95
Nobody was able to stop the "Ronen Express", as our GM finished his Blitz session with a perfect score again! Ronen had a relaxed session, chatting with his opponents and in channel 3, yet playing well and precise. He is a strong blitz player (remember Dos Hermanas, where he reached the final?), and it won't be easy for anyone to beat him. Ready to take up on the challenge? Learn More
