Good effort, needs editing Review by robnhood
The author gets high marks for honesty, calling risky moves risky and clearly distinguishing lines suitable for amateurs but not for professionals. He analyzes a number of novelties that are clear improvements over theory. Thus 4.5 stars for content. But the presentation was ragged, often using repetitive homilies, with annoying confusion of files versus ranks, omitting promised analysis of a critical line in the exchange variation, and at one point, leading the black side into an embarrassing mate in one. All of this would be fine in a live lecture but should be edited out in a commercial presentation . His English and clarity of speech are very good for what I presume is not his native language. Graphics likewise are clear. So 2.5 stars for presentation with an overall grade of 3.5. Recommended for devotees of this line, especially as the only dedicated books by Soltis and later Neumann are out of date and more current analysis is scattered in a variety of repertoire books and chess websites. Players over 2200 will need to track down more detailed analysis. (Posted on March 8, 2020)

good teaching in surpise chess Review by allan123
Yes what to say? Buy this if you feel so! Did not regret it this time. The lecturer did some mistakes in his sentences and swapped black with white sometimes, but the main ideas were absolutely worth it. Thanks Michael Rahal! (Posted on March 6, 2020)
